FIXR's promo codes feature allows event organisers to offer discounts, create exclusive access, and reserve ticket allocations for specific groups.

Whether you're running a marketing promotion or password-protecting ticket types, promo codes are a versatile tool to drive sales and enhance the attendee experience.

This guide explains how to create and utilise promo codes effectively.



Why use promo codes?

Boost sales: Offer time-limited discounts or exclusive deals to increase ticket purchases.


Run exclusive promotions: Use codes to offer special deals to VIPs, sponsors, or loyal customers.


Password-protect tickets: Reserve tickets for specific groups using unique codes.


Increase urgency: Create limited-time or limited-quantity offers to encourage faster ticket sales.



How to create and apply promo codes

1. Create a promo code

  • Log in to your FIXR Organiser account

  • Go to Events → Select your event

  • Click Promo codes in the left-hand menu

  • Click New promo code

  • Specify the usage limits:

    • Number of tickets allocated: The maximum number of tickets that can be bought with the code overall

    • Maximum number of tickets per user: The number of tickets an individual can use the code for

  • Choose the Ticket Type the code applies to

  • Create the code (e.g. SUMMER25 or VIPACCESS)

  • Set the Price that the ticket buyer using this code will pay

  • Choose the timeframe when the promo code will be valid

  • Click Create promo code

2. Distribute the promo code

  • Share the code with your desired audience via email, social media or FIXR's Message Centre.

  • For exclusive groups, only distribute the code to specific people.

3. Password-protect tickets (optional)

  • When creating a ticket type, choose "Prevent customers from purchasing this ticket without a valid promo code" (in advanced settings)

  • Assign the ticket type a unique promo code

  • Only people with the code will be able to see and buy these tickets

Boost sales with strategic discounts

  • Offer promo codes during key sales periods (e.g. payday deals, holiday promotions)

  • Run flash sales with a limited number of discounted tickets to create urgency

Password-protect for exclusive access

  • Reserve tickets for VIPs, friends, or specific groups by password-protecting them with promo codes

Use time-limited offers

  • Set expiration dates on promo codes to drive faster action

    • For example: “Use code WEEKEND20 for 20% off until Sunday at midnight!”

Facilitate charity donations

  • While promo codes typically offer discounts, you can use them to add a fixed amount to ticket prices (e.g. for charity donations)

No, FIXR promo codes only apply to specific ticket types, not the entire basket. You’ll need to apply the same code to each ticket type separately.

Within the Promo Codes section of your FIXR Organiser account, you can track and compare code usage and also download CSVs for promo code details and usage.
